Grade 3 will always be a memorable time for me. I enjoyed every moment of it, honestly.
In every year there are popular 'fads' that everyone just has to try. Grade 3 was the same. This year, amoung the girls, "Bloody Mary" became very popular and everyone wanted to try it. My friends and I were no different. We decided, "Lets go and try right after we eat before that mean old supervisor lady comes and kicks us out." The 4 of us sneaked into the washroom accross the hall, flicked off the lights and positioned ourself in front of the mirror. We looked nervously at each other. my best friend, being the leader she was said, " OK. On the count of 3, say 'Bloody Mary' 5 times and spin around 3 times." We counted to 3 and started chanting "Bloody Mary Bloody Mary Bloody Mary Bloody Mary Bloody Mary Bloody Mary!" in unison. Sequentially, we started to spin. Some of us finished before others.
While I was spinning away, making myself dizzy I came to a conclusion. I was not superstitious and it wasn't my first time trying this. Every other time, people would run away scared the moment they stopped chanting and spinning, regardless of whether the others got out or whether the lights were properly turn back on. My fellow crew weren't the bravest bunch, myself included. I figured that my friends would bolt for the door 2 seconds after we finished.
I was nearly right. We lasted 5 seconds. Everyone ran for the door while I was left last to leave. I had the luck to be the furthest from the door. In the split second I ran, I glanced back at the mirror.

There, in the bottom right side was the silouette of a person in blue and yellow. I ran without turning on the lights.
Safetly outside the school in the bright sunshine of noon, I confided in my friend. Her eyes grew wide for a moment.

"I saw it too."

Oddly enough, this was never mentioned between us again.
This is a true story.

I decided to write an account of my childhood in response to chinko's story^^ Only, there's nothing sad about this memory. Even now, I'm weary of the right bottom hand corner of mirrors.

So. Merry Christmas!
